You’ve seen actual race cars compete at the Indy 500. But what about a half-dozen Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles?
That will be the case for the “Wienie 500,” a first-of-its-kind oddball race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend as six Wienermobiles will compete at the same race track that hosts the Indy 500 on Sunday.

Is it weird? Yes. Is it a very real race that should be appointment viewing? Absolutely.
The Wienie 500 will take place Friday, May 23 at 2 p.m. EDT. The race will stream on the FOX Sports app and across “@INDYCARonFOX social accounts.”
The 2025 Indy 500 will take place on Sunday, May 25 at 12:25 EDT.
There will be six Wienermobiles participating in the race, each representing a different region of the United States. The six competitors include the Chi Dog (Midwest), New York Dog (East), Slaw Dog (Southeast), Sonoran Dog (Southwest), Chili Dog (South) and Seattle Dog (Northwest).
Oscar Mayer notes that this is the first time the Wienermobiles have ever raced each other.
The race will take place on “Carb Day,” which is the final day of practices before the Indy 500 and typically features a variety of fan-centric events.
