EVERETT, Wash. — A stolen fire engine caused chaos late Friday night as it barreled through north Everett, colliding with multiple parked cars and damaging property across five locations. The suspect remains at large.
The Everett Fire Department reported that the fire engine was stolen from the 2900 block of Hoyt Avenue while firefighters were attending to a medical emergency.
The theft was discovered just after 11:00 p.m. when the engine crew returned to find their vehicle missing.
Simultaneously, 911 calls began pouring in, reporting a hit-and-run involving the fire engine in the 1300 block of Hoyt Avenue. Witnesses said the engine struck two parked cars at high speed before fleeing.
Within minutes, similar incidents were reported, including a major collision in the 1000 block of E Marine View Drive, where the fire engine crashed into ten parked vehicles. Additional damage was reported at several other locations, including landscaping and street signs.
Everett Police responded quickly, locating the fire engine in the 1000 block of W. Marine View Drive. Despite establishing containment and conducting a K-9 search, the suspect managed to escape the truck and evade capture, and remains missing as of Saturday morning.
The stolen fire engine, a 2018 Pierce Enforcer Pumper, was significantly damaged and was impounded for evidence. A reserve truck has been deployed to maintain emergency services in Everett.
Police are actively investigating the theft and subsequent collisions. They urge anyone with information to contact the Everett Police Department.
