A lot of “new” was thrown out in tonight’s episode of The Amazing Race 37. The seven remaining teams traveled to a brand-new country for the CBS reality series, spending their time in the villages and farms of Bulgaria. The first self-driving leg of the season caused many difficulties, from one team getting their car towed to another falling three hours behind getting lost. But the elimination ultimately came down to the return of the U-Turn, which helped mount one of the most epic comebacks in recent memory.
Check out our spoiler-filled recap below to find out who went home from the race on The Amazing Race 37 tonight.
Who was eliminated in The Amazing Race 37 Week 5 tonight?
Nick Fiorito (L) and Mike Fiorito (R)Sonja Flemming/CBS
Nick Fiorito and Mike Fiorito – Brothers
For Nick and Mike, stepping foot onto The Amazing Race was an accomplishment in and of itself. The brothers had spent seven years applying, pushing through constant rejection until they had their breakthrough. It was a dream for them to compete on the race, but the race itself was far from the experience they hoped. Every leg, it seemed that Nick and Mike would struggle with at least one task, or at least one thing would go wrong to send them spinning to the back of the pack. Regardless of their consistent fate, the brothers kept a spirit of positivity and mindfulness, narrowely avoiding elimination in a footrace in Dubai.
But a change in location proved to not change their fate. After getting lost, Nick and Mike were once again at the back. Despite their physical dominance, they had to make one extra trip during the Detour, which ended up sealing their fate. That’s because Melinda and Erika were able to just beat them out to the U-Turn board, U-Turning them out of fear that they were the last two teams. That sent the brothers back to the Detour, as they now had to comb through haystacks. And, considering the mounting exhaustion and pressure, the two spurned meticulousness in favor of speed, which doomed their race. After tearing apart all the haystacks, they realized the bracelet they sought was scattered among all the hay they threw across the field. And so they spent six hours roaming the grass, getting passed by several teams, and ending their seven-year goal.
Which teams finished at the top of The Amazing Race 37 Week 7 tonight?
Being one of the most consistent competitors of the season, Alyssa and Josiah Borden were finally able to net a first-place finish in Bulgaria. The married couple (literally) milked their time for all its worth, ending the leg on top. Brett Hamby and Mark Romain also had a strong day, as the married couple bounced back with a second-place finish after conquering the physical Detour. Jonathan and Ana Towns had an up-and-down day, to say the least. The married parents hid the midpoint of the leg in first place, only for bad luck and a bad parking job leaving them stuck in the mud. Despite their vehicular difficulties, they still netted and impressive third place.

Which teams finished at the bottom of The Amazing Race 37 Week 6 tonight?
Carson McCalley and Jack Dodge came into this leg gloating about how successful they had been so far, facing no real obstacle to their consistently great performance. But, facing a self-driving leg, they hit a major one. The friends got hopelessly lost as soon as they took to the highway, putting them behind almost three hours. But due to a can-do spirit, an advantageous U-Turn, and Nick and Mike’s mistakes with the haystack, the two were somehow able to do the impossible and survive. Above them were Melinda and Erika Papadeas, who unintentionally caused Nick and Mike’s demise, believing they were the last two teams. The mother/daughter duo received what they called immediate “karma” by getting lost, falling to fifth place.
