BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the Sealion 07 DM-i hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle), a sister model to the all-electric Sealion 07 EV.
The mid-to-large-size SUV is available in three variants, starting at RMB 169,800 ($23,460), RMB 179,800, and RMB 205,800, and is the newest member of BYD’s Ocean series.
The Sealion 07 DM-i is built on BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, or DM 5.0, which was released on May 28, 2024, bringing lower fuel consumption.
The model measures 4,880 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,750 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
It is powered by a 1.5T engine and has a 60 L fuel tank. The engine has a peak power of 115 kW and peak torque of 225 Nm.
The two lower-priced variants are single-motor front-drive models with 200 kW of peak power and 315 Nm of peak torque, and they can both accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
The highest-priced variant additionally has a rear motor with 150 kW of peak power and 340 Nm of peak torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.
The Sealion 07 DM-i comes standard with a blade battery pack with a capacity of 26.6 kWh and a CLTC battery range of 135 km to 150 km.
On a full tank of fuel and full charge, the hybrid SUV has a range of up to 1,320 kilometers.
The two lower-priced variants come with BYD’s God’s Eye C driver assistance system with the smart driving solution DiPilot 100, which supports the NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) function on highways.
The highest-priced variant comes with the God’s Eye B driver assistance system with DiPilot 300, which additionally supports NOA in urban areas.
Its cockpit system is DiLink 100 and the virtual voice assistant taps into DeepSeek’s AI large models for a better conversation experience.
The Sealion 07 DM-i supports the optional Ling Yuan drone system, which was released by BYD with DJI in March.
The Sealion 07 DM-i is the fourth model in BYD’s Sealion family, which is among BYD’s most popular.
The Sealion 07 EV, which was launched in May 2024, is the first model in the Sealion family. It is based on BYD’s all-electric e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform and currently starts at RMB 189,800.
In September 2024, BYD launched the Sealion 05 DM-i compact hybrid SUV, which currently has a starting price of RMB 102,800 yuan.
On March 25 this year, BYD launched the all-electric Sealion 05 EV, which has a starting price of RMB 117,800 for the SUV.
BYD sold 380,089 NEVs in April, up 21.34 percent year-on-year and up 0.71 percent from March, according to figures it announced on May 1.
