WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Tempers boiled over after Saturday night’s final race at Bowman Gray Stadium.
Drivers Zack Staley and Justin Alverson were battling for position at the end of the Street Stock race when they made contact on the cool-down lap and crashed together on the track.

Staley got out of his race car, visibly angry at Alverson, and had to be held back by track officials who were trying to keep the drivers apart. The scuffle escalated as Alverson exited his car and ran over to where officials were holding Staley at bay.
More officials and Winston-Salem police kept the drivers apart as they all wrestled around on the ground.
Staley said they had minor issues during the race about what position they were supposed to restart in after a caution.
Their beef heated up after the race when Alverson gestured to Staley on the cool-down lap. Staley swerved toward Alverson’s car in displeasure, and Alverson drove his car into Staley’s, crashing them both.
Staley and Alverson finished the race 13th and 14th, respectively.
