Zee Wright is always good about routine maintenance. So when she had a problem with her cart after an oil job, she knew something could be wrong.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Many car owners can relate to Zee Wright’s experience – the excitement of purchasing a new car quickly fades when unexpected issues arise. For Wright, a new vehicle purchase turned into a costly headache after the car broke down just a few months later.
Wright, who was initially thrilled with her new car, says the purchase came with all the bells and whistles, and the price was great. She drove the car and was excited about the potential. However, after just a few months, things took a turn for the worse.
“I had to have the oil changed, and just 10 days later, the engine blew,” Wright shared. Her once-perfect car was now plagued with engine issues that led to an expensive repair bill totaling $5,500.
According to the diagnostic report, the oil had stopped pumping to the engine, a critical failure. Wright turned to the repair shop that performed the oil change, hoping they would assist with the cost of a new engine.
“I called News 2 because the engine failed, and they were trying to give me the runaround. They weren’t trying to service me at first,” Wright explained.
That’s when the station’s team stepped in, offering Wright a loaner car while they worked with the repair shop on her behalf. Thanks to WFMY News 2’s intervention, the shop agreed to cover half of the engine replacement costs and provided a three-year, unlimited-mile warranty on the new engine.
“I really appreciate News 2. They came through, got me a loaner car, went up there, spoke with people, and got the ball rolling,” Wright said, expressing her gratitude. “News 2, thank you so much for being professional, compassionate, and considerate.”
With her car now fixed and back on the road, Wright is able to continue on her journey, relieved that her frustrating ordeal is finally resolved, thanks to the assistance of WFMY News 2.
