COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — During a recent heat advisory, a mother cat found herself in a sticky situation after being abandoned in the Columbus Humane parking lot. In a bid to escape the scorching heat, the confused and scared mama cat sought refuge in the engine of a nearby car, while her kittens were left in a carrier near the entrance.
Despite lacking mechanical training, the Columbus Humane staff sprang into action. They opened the car’s hood, crawled underneath, and carefully worked to rescue the frightened feline. Volunteers quickly joined the effort, and thanks to their compassion and teamwork, the mama cat was safely extracted and reunited with her kittens.
Columbus Humane emphasized the importance of their surrender protocols, which are designed to protect the health and well-being of every animal in their care. “Vaccinations, medical evaluations, and proper intake procedures are essential to giving every animal the best possible chance at a happy future,” they said.
The organization urged pet owners facing difficult circumstances not to abandon their pets. “Reach out,” they said. “Together, you can find a safer, more humane path forward—because every pet deserves safety, dignity, and love.”
