Two young brothers from New Jersey were killed and a puppy was also found dead after a violent crash sent a car flying off I-95 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania State Police said.
The deadly crash happened Friday night, March 21, around 8:12 p.m., near mile marker 25.5 on I-95 North by the Castor Avenue overpass, PSP Trooper Paul Holdefer said (see videos from the scene on Citizen).
A 2006 Mazda was heading north when the driver lost control for unknown reasons, Holdefer said. The car hit a guiderail, flipped several times, and went over the edge of the highway, landing on Castor Avenue below the overpass. All four people inside were brothers from New Jersey, he said.

The two rear passengers, ages 18 and 22, were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the car, and were pronounced dead at the scene, Holdefer said. The driver, 18, and the front seat passenger, 23, were taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition, according to Holdefer.
Holdefer did not identify the victims by name.
A puppy that had been in the back seat was also ejected during the crash and was later found dead, Holdefer said.
Witness interviews indicated the Mazda was racing a Dodge Challenger on the interstate prior to the crash, Holdefer said.
The incident remains under investigation.
