A Sonoma County fire engine was involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 11, in Windsor while responding to another collision, a department spokesperson said.
The crash occurred about 3:15 p.m. as the engine was traveling with its emergency lights and siren activated, said Karen Hancock, a spokesperson for the Sonoma County Fire District.
The fire engine was responding to a separate collision at Old Redwood Highway and Eastside Road when it was involved in a crash with a Toyota Prius at Old Redwood Highway and Lakewood Drive, Hancock said.
Two people in the Prius were taken to a hospital; their conditions were not immediately available. No firefighters were injured in the crash, according to Hancock.
Hancock said personnel remained at the scenes of both accidents Wednesday afternoon. The crash involving the fire truck is under investigation by the Windsor Police Department.
