However, it is still capable of keeping up with traffic thanks to the smooth power delivery of the electric motor. Kia has also opted to forgo a CVT, a rare choice in affordable hybrids but one that we appreciate, instead opting for a dual-clutch transmission. Front-wheel drive is your only option here.
The Niro Hybrid is not a particularly exciting car to drive. It is designed to be cheap and comfortable, and that means that steering is more than a little numb and its handling is subpar. The EPA deliver two separate estimates for the Niro Hybrid, with the trim that you opt for being the deciding factor here. Touring models come with fancy 18-inch wheels, which look great but do affect fuel economy. These models manage 49 miles per gallon combined. Every other model is rated for 53 miles per gallon combined.
