ALTAVISTA, Va. (WFXR) – A late-night kitten rescue from a car engine is prompting Altavista Fire Company to remind citizens to keep an eye out as the weather gets colder.
According to officials, at 11 p.m., the Altavista Fire Company and Campbell County Public Safety rescued a kitten that was stuck in a vehicle’s engine compartment in the fire department parking lot.

The Facebook post states that the vehicle’s owner heard meowing and spotted the kitten wedged between engine parts.
Crews say they removed a few components to safely free the kitten, who then got a bath, which was much needed to remove engine grime.
Altavista Fire Company is reminding vehicle owners, “As temps start dropping over the next few months, check under your hood sometimes, you might save a life!”
